Our High Strength Vitamin D3 and K2 tablets contain a higher amount of Vitamin K2 compared to the regular form. This increase in K2 creates a better ratio of D3 to K2 as it is recommended to take at least 200mcg of Vitamin K2 daily if you are consuming more than 2,500IU of vitamin D3. Vitamin K2 controls the way calcium is stored and used in the body helping to ensure calcium goes the the right place, namely bones and teeth. The D3 and K2 work together to activate and form osteocalcin, a protein that stores calcium in the bones. Vitamin K2 also activates another protein responsible for the regulation of calcium in the arterial walls, therefore a lack of vitamin k2 can lead to hardening of the arteries. Without K2 in the body, calcium circulating in the body that has been absorbed from food via vitamin D can be deposited in the soft tissues of the body and in the arteries leading to arthrosclerosis. Vitamin D3 should therefore always be taken with vitamin K2 The Vitamin D used is in the form of Cholecalciferol, a naturally occurring compound which our bodies can easily use, along side the most active form of Vitamin K2; menaquinone 7. Menaquinone 7 (MK-7) is found naturally in fermented foods such as natto and has been shown to have tremendous health benefits both on its own and especially in tandem with vitamin D.
